How can it be eight years since I wrote my last review for Crestwood Pharmacy? And how can it be that in all of that time there hasn't been a single other review of the place?
One reason is likely that the pharmacy's clientele seem to be an elderly population who live in the neighborhood. But could it also have something to do with my initial tentative review? At the time I praised the business for being one of the only independent pharmacies in the area. But I didn't have a lot more to say.
Now Crestwood has been my family pharmacy for almost a decade, and I wouldn't dream of going any place else.
Perhaps if it weren't for our sabbatical year in Princeton, I might not realize just how good we have it with this local independent operator. But while in New Jersey, I got to experience what it's like to fill prescriptions at a chain pharmacy. In a word, it was dreadful. And Crestwood was one of the things I missed about life in Albany.
Not too long ago, the schools were having a lice epidemic, and my kids got the bugs. There was a local shortage of the prescription treatment, and Crestwood was out. But Jay helped me track some down by calling around to the chain pharmacies in the area. That's service that cares. And while some businesses might be reluctant to send you to their direct competitors, this move solidified my loyalty to Crestwood even further.
Yes, I have to drive past several other pharmacies to get there. But I'm happy to do it. Independent pharmacies are a rare and precious thing. I hope this one keeps the faith and never sells out.
